I was looking for elderflowers when I stumbled upon these Mullein today, Verbascum Thapsus. Lungs of the earth. Big, bountiful, proud beings that can really take root in some subpar places.
That’s kind of her medicine too... related to our capacity for breath; a demulcent, soothing, relieving and softening irritation or inflammation of the mucous membrane. A medicine for breath means a medicine for integration, @maiatoll
says “call on mullein when you need a torch in the darkness, or an overview of the whole so you can understand the parts.”
Ah, yes, of course she would reveal herself to me after my post yesterday about my struggle through the darkness. Hecates torch coming to me in ritual in days past. That’s the way the plant realm works when you’re open to receive. I didn’t harvest Miss Mullein today, since it was our first in person greeting of the season. Hopefully I’ll meet her again soon because I have dreams of threading her into a blend I’m gestating for all of us on a journey with shadow work. A spray for ritualizing and integrating when the time is right. Something to keep in our healing spaces... our altars and bedrooms... our offices if we are so open as to aid the healing of others. That time is not quite yet for me, so I know she’ll show herself when the stars align.
Sweet Mullein 💛
