I hope 2019 finds you getting out of your comfort zone, embracing change, forging new paths, trying new things, and seeing new places. Irony: I spend a lot of time in Yosemite but it's hard not to. I'll be spending plenty of time outdoors in 2019 and bringing that to you with my camera. Thanks for all of your support 😀 Happy New Year 🎉🍾
Sunrises in the valley are unreal. Always worth getting up and waiting in the cold ❄️
It's the middle of the week and my mind is on the mountains. The watchman in @zionnps is a stunning place to watch the sunset. Where are you off to this weekend?🌲
I took this a few weeks ago in Yosemite during a fall trip with @alexandernavaphotography It's hard to explain how much I love California, but our state has had a hard time this year due to all of the fires we have had. The area I live has been hit especially hard with the Camp Fire destroying the town of Paradise which is only a few miles from Chico and of course the Carr fire over the summer in Redding. I am heartened to see so many people donating time and money and supporting one another during this difficult time and the tireless work of our first responders. If you feel so inclined, donations to www.nvcf.org will be kept 100% local to the fire victims. Tough times don't last but tough people do.
The slot canyons of Arizona are spectacular. Having the opportunity to photograph them was amazing and is something I definitely want to do again. If you visit Arizona, make sure you check out some slot canyons!
The southwest is an amazing place to visit. I can't wait until I get to visit Zion and Arizona again, it's truly magnificent. Hopefully this gives you a little lift in the middle of your week. Where are you headed this weekend?🌵
"If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I bet they would live a lot differently.”-Calvin and Hobbes
There's a reason so many of these iconic places are photographed so many times. They are simply breathtaking and I feel lucky to be able to experience them. I hope this gives you a little inspiration to get through the week so you can spend some time outside! 🌵
If you have been a photographer for any length of time, you know it is very much about rules. Leading lines, rule of thirds, golden and blue hours, etc. This photo breaks the rule of not taking photos in harsh light but that's okay because it's a trophy for me. Angels Landing was one of the hardest and coolest hikes I've ever done and probably one of the most adrenaline inducing. If you're in Zion, do it. I don't do well with heights but I couldn't let myself leave without doing it.
I spent the last week exploring the southwest with my wife and daughter and I can't put to words how much untouched beauty there is. So I'll just post some photos that I hope tell a story better than I can. That was the first of many trips for me. Happy Monday! I'm already planning my next trip out here in Northern California. Where are you headed next?🌲
Fall colors out in the Eastern Sierras this time last year were on fire. Looks like the same is true this year! Today is my last day in the southwest before I head back to NorCal so get ready for the photos from this trip. I'll get to editing them within the next few days. Happy Friday and get outside this weekend!🌲
It's finally Friday and I'm about to set off for a road trip to San Diego and then @zionnps for some hiking and photos. Getting back to the valley is on my to do list also 🤩 Where are you headed this weekend?🌲
We're all made of stardust. Happy Wednesday 🌌
It's been a minute since my last post, real life tends to get busy. I'm looking forward to next week because I'll be on my way to some outdoor adventuring with my family. Couldn't be more stoked. Where are you heading to enjoy the fall weather?🍁
The weather is finally cooling off and the leaves are starting to change. I can't overstate how much I love this time of year. I have some trips lined up and I can't wait to get outside. What are your fall plans?🍂🍁
Another awesome evening in @lassennps with @alexandernavaphotography shooting the milky way. Nothing better than watching the day turn into night on a quiet lake. Get outside this weekend!🌲
Spent some time in @lassennps over the weekend for some evening photos and astrophotography. It was incredibly peaceful watching day turn tonight on the lake. I hope everyone is having a great labor day weekend!🌲
Kings Creek Falls in @lassennps has some gorgeous views for a day hike. It has a series of switchbacks which can be a little tedious but the views are worth it. Where are you headed this weekend?🌲
